The Business and Marketing team is responsible for three key areas of Bath Rocket Team: searching for funding (sponsors), handling finances for the year and all social media content and outreach. You’re welcome to indicate on the form which group you’re most interested in and the weekly commitment is flexible, you’ll not be asked to do more than you can handle.

Searching for sponsors will involve searching for relevant companies who could provide us with funds or discounts on materials, cold-calling or emailing them and pitching to them. This could be great on a CV if you’re looking to show proof of persuasion and presentation skills, as well as research.

Handling finances consists of creating a 2026-2027 budget for the team, maintaining a record of all transactions, coordinating with the MechEng department on all income and expenses as well as keeping check of any teams who are overspending. This could be great on a CV if you’re looking that you’re analytical, methodical and organised.

Managing social media involves creating content for all platforms: TikTok, Instagram and Linkedin and creating newsletter content for our website. This is great if you’re a creative and organised person looking to build their video or photo social media portfolio. We’re looking to have some people create vlog type content when we go on testing phases in Snowdonia, Scotland and LA.

What we’re Looking for:

• Sponsors Team: You’re organised, outgoing and comfortable with public speaking.
• Finance Team: You’re analytical, and happy to look at a bunch of numbers.
• Social Media: You’re creative and organised.

Relevant Skills 

• Sponsors Team: PowerPoint use is relevant.
• Finance Team: Knowledge of Excel is useful.
• Social Media: Video creation, content creation, photo-taking and knowledge of social media. Canva use could be relevant here.
